Homeward Raises $450 Million to Scale Technology-Driven Home Financing

Homeward has secured $450 million in new financing as the U.S. property-finance company moves to expand its technology-driven approach to buying and selling homes.

The Austin-based company raised $120 million in Series D equity financing alongside $330 million in asset-backed debt facilities. The funding, led by alternative investment firm Saluda Grade, will support expansion of Homeward’s cash-offer and bridge-financing products, while increasing its capacity to finance residential transactions.

The financing comes as longer home-selling periods create challenges for buyers who need to purchase a new property before selling their existing one. Homeward’s model is designed to address that timing problem by providing financing that can remove traditional home-sale contingencies and give buyers greater purchasing flexibility.

Its products include a “Buy Before You Sell” option using short-term bridge financing, as well as cash-backed purchasing solutions that allow buyers to make stronger offers before transitioning to conventional mortgage financing.

The company plans to use the equity portion of the raise to strengthen its technology platform and accelerate expansion across the 48 contiguous U.S. states. The larger debt facility will provide additional capital for individual home transactions.

Homeward has also integrated mortgage and title services into its platform, positioning the company beyond a conventional financing provider. It says it has worked with more than 25,000 real estate agents and facilitated over $4 billion in residential transactions since its founding.

The $450 million raise therefore represents both a capital injection and a significant expansion of Homeward’s lending capacity as technology continues to reshape residential real estate finance.
